The best answer is to contact the local club.  There is no guaranteed date as to when trails open or close in Maine.  It all depends on the trail conditions which is monitored by the club.  A general rule of thumb is May 15 for southern Maine clubs and June 1-15 for northern Maine clubs for opening.   We all have to wait for the frost to melt and the ground to dry so huge ruts are not created.   The link below will open a map on google maps to show all the clubs in the state of Maine, where they are located, and how to contact them.

There are several apps that you can download to your phone but they are not always accurate.  Always remember that trail signs are the rule on the trail.  Just because your app says it's a trail, it does not mean it is.
